4 Charles Prime Rib

Walked in at opening time and the hosts kindly accommodated me with no issue. I was surprised at how small the restaurant was. The service was exceptional and the food was great. I ordered the viral wagyu burger with an addition of the fried egg with fries on the side. Wasn’t too partial on their fries though. I had the coconut cake for dessert which I loved and would recommend and also got peppermint tea to go with it. Loved that they brought it out in a tea pot with a cute little tea cup and saucer. Classic touch. Would love to try other things on the menu. The table next to me ordered the prime rib French dip and said it was better than the burger.

What an experience…. I probably spent about a month straight attempting to land a reservation here… Impossible… so let’s go with how we ended up here. I was celebrating my birthday and my wife suggested we try our luck as a walk in. We arrived at 4pm when they first opened and landed at number 17 on the waitlist. We heard there was a line that started up at 330pm that went down the block. The list we were on was the cancellation list so it is not guaranteed which probably is definitely not guaranteed. While waiting my wife finds out there is a separate wait list for the table outside in which we landed at number 3. Couple number 1 never showed up so we jumped to 2 and the couple ahead of us took about an hour and a half to finish then we finally sat down total wait time of 2.5 hours. Luckily it was a lovely day. The food did not disappoint. We started with the French dip sandwich and famous burger with the works. I prefer the French dip sandwich. I had the ribeye as my main dish and we shared Mac and cheese and fries ( which were on the house). Everything was cooked to perfection. Dessert was also great. We shared the chocolate pie which was much better than it looked in my opinion. The service was amazing. I love when I’m able to eat my food and get asked only when I need to if everything is alright. It’s like they knew when to come by. If you are wondering why it is impossible to get a reservation it is because they only have a small selection of table available. Any tips try to go early on a Friday in which they open at 12 for lunch and get there for 1130 to be safe.. If the weather permits it ask for the table outside chances are you will luck out. Good luck… if you don’t get to ever make it try the Monkey Bar….

Thanks to a friend, I had one of the most unforgettable dining experiences at 4 Charles. From the very first bite, every dish carried a unique flavor and depth that you just can’t find anywhere else. I’ve been to many top restaurants, but it has been so long since I felt this happy with every part of the meal. Our server was flawless, and every member of the team made the night feel even more special. The steak melted in my mouth, the bone marrow was pure perfection, and the cocktails, wine, and dessert tied everything together beautifully. I walked out with a full heart, a full stomach, and a wish to come back again soon.

The standouts here were unquestionably the Wagyu burger and the French dip sandwich—both executed with richness and precision. What impressed me even more, though, was the exceptional service (special thanks to Daniel), which will likely be the aspect of my dining experience that I’ll remember the most. People often ask whether 4 Charles is “worth the hype,” but I think that’s the wrong question. No restaurant could truly live up to the mystique created around getting a table here. Instead, come for what it is: a quintessentially American, clubby dining room where the food is indulgent, the hospitality is first-class, and the atmosphere feels like an occasion in itself.

We were in town for my birthday trip and managed to be first in line for the waitlist consideration. We saw every single person working hard to prepare for a good night. We waited two hours before opening to secure our spot in the blazing heat and I’d do it again, not only for the food, but for the service! We were greeted by wonderful wait staff and for the first 8-minutes of opening had the entire place to ourselves. It didn’t feel transactional! They wanted us to enjoy our dinner. Highly recommend the crab legs, the burger, the French dip! All of the food was impeccable with beautiful presentation. Thank you for ending my birthday trip with a delightful dinner! We were grateful for the last minute table and hope to come back soon! Do not skip this one - it’s worth it!

Took me almost 2 years to snag a seat but I guess walking in early on a Friday gives you a good shot. It’s a tiny space which makes it very intimate but the service is top notch. Loved the martini and they have people to help with the wine as well. Burger is a must-have - enjoyed it with both egg and bacon. Prime rib earns its name - we had the 4 Charles cut but I think a regular cut will satisfy. Chocolate tart is to die for but also very rich. If only I could come back without struggling for a reservation!

Amazing food, unbeatable service, get there early and wait in line! My boyfriend and I came here on 7/2 at 3:30 PM and there were already about 6-8 groups ahead of us. The first two or three were seated, and the rest were placed on the waitlist in case of a cancellation. Since there were so many people ahead, we figured it was safer to eat somewhere else instead of waiting around. Good thing we did, because we never got a text about an opening. We decided to try again the next day and arrived at 2:45 PM. This time, we were third in line! By the time the restaurant opened, the line was already halfway down the block. It's definitely true that your odds are better if you're a party of four rather than two. Around 4:45, the host came out to let everyone know whether they'd be able to squeeze us in. My boyfriend and I, along with the two groups ahead of us, were offered the choice to either dine right away or come back at 6 PM. We all chose to dine right away, with the understanding that we'd need to give the table back by 5:30 PM. That ended up being more than enough time. I believe we were the last party of two to be seated. The only group seated after us was a party of four, everyone else was turned away. The service? Out of this world. We ordered the cheeseburger, the 4 Charles prime rib, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes. Our server asked if we planned to split everything, and when we said yes, he offered to bring out the burger first so we could enjoy it separately before diving into the rest of the meal. That small gesture made the experience feel thoughtful and unrushed. The burger lived up to the hype. A little pricey, but totally worth it for a special occasion (we were visiting from out of town and celebrating our 2 year anniversary). My boyfriend inhaled it in under a minute. No exaggeration. The prime rib was perfectly cooked! Tender, juicy, flavorful, and had the perfect amount of fat:meat ratio. A definite must-try. Now, the mashed potatoes. Don't even talk to me about them. These were the mashed potatoes l've been dreaming of my whole life and never knew actually existed. Absolute star of the show for me. The mac and cheese was also incredible. Crispy on top, super creamy, and they definitely didn't skimp on the cheese sauce. We both ordered Cokes with no ice, and the refills kept coming. Not once were our glasses left empty. Each time, they remembered the no ice request without asking. After the burger, our server reset the table with fresh plates and silverware before bringing out the rest of the food. They even wiped down the table with a wet cloth before dessert. We shared the raspberry sorbet, and they brought out two ice-cold cups for us to scoop it into. I found it a little too tart for my taste, but my boyfriend really enjoyed it. We were too full to try any of the cakes, but I've heard they're a must. All in all, this is definitely a spot you have to try at least once in your life. Just make sure to get there early since reservations are basically impossible to get. No matter how you look or how much you spend, the 4 Charles team will treat you like they would an A-list celebrity. Thank you 4 Charles for making our anniversary an unforgettable one!
